Last Saturday was service Saturday for me. I volunteer in my community. I met with a bunch of people whom we attend the same University. We were assigned to clean a church.
On getting there, I met this girl and we were both assigned to clean the windows. She was such a sweet creature. A beautiful young lady whom i admired. We got talking and she told me her life story in less than two hours.
It's funny how we humans complain and think we are going through the worse phase in life... yet we forget to realize that other people go through worse situations. As humans, i think we need to learn to thank the Lord in whatever situation we find ourselves.
I was reading a blog by a Nigerian blogger few weeks ago. I was amazed and i'm still in shock. A lady poured acid on her step daughters face claiming she was a witch. I mean how inhumane can one be a times? In what age do people still do that... anyways back to my story.
Her mom had cancer of the blood, her dad was a jerk, she was on the softball team in Louisiana State University (LSU) Go Tigers!!!!
Her father been a jerk wasn't capable of taking care of her mom so she had to take a break from school to care for her mom. After the doctor said she only had six months to live, her mom decided to take her on a vacation to Paris so as to make every second they shared count.
She loved every bit of Paris. Herself and other tourists were taking around by their tour guide. Apparently, there was this particular South African tourist that was always in her group that was guided by the tour guide (i hope that makes sense) After chatting with him for days, he decided to take her on a date.
In her words "He is the most romantic guy I have ever met." After having a romantic dinner at an expensive restaurant, he took her to the Eiffel Tower where they had their first kiss. I thought that was so beautiful. They spent more time together.. loved every minutes they shared... But, every good thing comes to an end. She had to return back to the States and he had to return to South Africa. They exchanged contact informations and kept in touch.
She got back to reality and it hit her that her mom was going soon. Six months passed and her mom was still alive. Her mom asked her if she had the opportunity of visiting anywhere in the world, where would she visit and South African came out of her mouth like a baby that was hungry for breast milk.
Surprisingly, her mom booked the next flight to South Africa for them. Immediately she landed, she called her African boo. After hugging, making out, and doing all those cool things ;) he decided to invite her to his mansion. Apparently, his dad was a king or a chief.. she wasn't sure... All she knew was he lived in this huge mansion and had maids that practically did everything for him/them. As an American, she wasn't used to that kind of lifestyle. To her, she was in little heaven.
He practically took her on their own romantic tourism around Cape Town. Now, i'm not sure if she loved every minute of South Africa because it was beautiful or because she was been toured around by her African boo.
This time around, he made every second count. To her, her trip to South Africa was the best thing that ever happened to her. To cut the story short, the fun had to come to an end... she returned back to the States. Days later, her mom died.
"Now that was reality, my life crumbled" She said. She hated her dad, started drinking , taking weed, did all the bad stuffs one could ever imagine. She went back to school and it was a mess for her. She blamed God for everything and turned against him. She asked herself why God made her cry so much if he truly loved her. She had so many unanswered questions.
Weeks later, she wrote to her African Boo to tell him the situation at hand. She believes his mom replied the letter because it had so many words of encouragement. Days, weeks, went by and they still kept in touch.
Her aunt took her to church were she rededicated herself to God... she got baptized, forgave her dad and moved on. Unfortunately for her, her phone was stolen while at a concert with her aunt. She felt so terrible because she lost her African Boo's contact... He was the most important and relevance in her life then since the loss of her mom. She got on a new phone plan with her dad which made her change her number..For this reason, she completely lost contacts with him.
It was very depressing she confessed. To make matters worse, he wasn't on Facebook. She cried most nights hoping it was a fairly tale and things would go back to the way they were, but all to no avail. She went on skype, typed his first name, and added everyone that bore the name in South Africa. She spoke to all of them but none was him.
She accepted her fate, believes in miracles and if it was meant to be.. they would find their way to each others arms.
All this happened last summer....she transfered to my school to play softball... She is now a very good friend of mine :)
Even when you plan ahead, Life just always has a way of making things happen its own way.
